Unfallschwerpunkte und Überwachungszonen
Die Ermittlung eines Unfallschwerpunktes ist in der VSS Norm SN 641 724 „Strassenverkehrssicherheit, Unfallschwerpunkt-Management“ definiert. Die Unfallschwerpunktsuche erfolgt automatisiert durch das VUGIS (Verkehrsunfall-GIS) und wird durch das ASTRA verifiziert. Somit gilt gesamtschweizerisch der gleiche Standard für Unfallschwerpunkte.
Die Infrastrukturelemente (Kreuzung, Einmündung, Kreisel und Strecke) mit einem Unfallschwerpunkt wurden ab der Einführung der VSS Regel SNR 641 724 im Jahr 2013 (aktuell: VSS SN 641 724) in die Liste der Überwachungszonen aufgenommen. Somit beinhalten die ÜZ alle USP seit dem Bericht „Unfallstatistik 2013 (USP 2011 - 2013)". Die ÜZ werden fortlaufend nummeriert. Dadurch erhält jede ÜZ eine eindeutige Nummer. Die Unfallschwerpunkte werden jedes Jahr den bekannten ÜZ zugeordnet oder es wird bei den neuen USP eine neue Nummer vergeben. Mit dieser Methode wird ein Infrastrukturelement immer mit derselben Nummer bezeichnet.
