Das Aufzeichnen der Prozessräume, der Ursachen und die Auswirkungen abgelaufener Ereignisse hilft bei der Ausscheidung potenzieller Gefahrenbereiche sowie der Abschätzung der Wiederkehrperiode von gefährlichen Prozessen. Die Inhalte aus StorMe sind somit eine wichtige Grundlage bei der Gefahrenbeurteilung. StorMe ermöglicht durch die GIS-Werkzeuge eine räumlich differenzierte Aufnahme der Ereignisabläufe sowie der aufgetretenen Schäden.
