Vegetation alpine floodplains
Habitat protection pursuant to Article 18a of the Federal Act on the Protection of Nature and Cultural Heritage (NHG, SR 451) aims to ensure effective protection for areas of national importance belonging to the most significant habitat types. In 1992, the Federal Inventory of Floodplain Areas of National Importance (Aueninventar), comprising 169 floodplain areas, came into force. From 1995 to 1998, the glacier forefields and alpine alluvial plains of Switzerland were surveyed. In 2001, 52 glacier forefields and 14 alluvial plains were incorporated into the Floodplain Inventory as alpine floodplains of national importance. Between 2003 and 2005, the condition of the alpine floodplains in the inventory was recorded in greater detail. The geodataset documents the raw data from the vegetation survey as well as derived features for specific applications.

Die als Schutzziel in der Verordnung über den Schutz der Auengebiete von nationaler Bedeutung (Auenverordnung; SR 451.31) verankerte ungeschmälerte Erhaltung der Inventarobjekte setzt voraus, dass deren Zustand zum Zeitpunkt der Aufnahme ins Inventar adäquat dokumentiert ist. Diesem Zweck dienen die in den Jahren 2003 – 2005 durchgeführten Erhebungen (Vegetation, Eingriffe). Die Erhebungen dienen zudem als Grundlage für die Schutzlegung, den Unterhalt und die Aufwertung sowie zur Beurteilung von Nutzungen und neuen Vorhaben in oder in der Nähe der Objekte.
Die Behörden des Bundes, der Kantone sowie die interessierte Öffentlichkeit können die Geodaten zur Vegetation der alpinen Auen bei Bedarf konsultieren. Das Datenmodell ermöglicht die Konsultation der aus den Rohdaten abgeleiteten Vegetations-Haupttypen, Konfliktgrade und –arten als Karte. Die Rohdaten können als Attribut-Information abgefragt oder über die Geodaten in Form referenzierter Erhebungsprotokolle (.pdf) pro Inventarobjekt erschlossen werden.

Die alpinen Auen sind nach der Methode der Einheitsflächenkartierung botanisch dokumentiert. Einheitsflächen sind hinsichtlich Geländeform, Dynamik der geomorphologischen Prozesse, Struktur und Vegetationstyp möglichst homogene räumliche Einheiten. Jede Einheitsfläche wird bezüglich Präsenz und Deckungsgrad der Vegetationseinheiten des für die alpinen Auen etablierten Kartierschlüssels beschrieben. Die verfügbaren Daten dokumentieren die Vegetation der alpinen Auen im Zeitraum 2003 – 2005. Folgeerhebungen sind nicht vorgesehen.
