Salt: Production and mining sites

This dataset shows the production and extraction sites of the salt industry in Switzerland (in operation or decommissioned). Salt is primarily used as a de-icing agent to ensure road safety in winter, for the production of industrial salts and as table salt. For detailed information on mining activities, please contact the relevant cantonal authorities. This dataset is periodically updated and does not claim to be exhaustive.
