Als Grundlage für das erste nationale Kartenwerk, die "Topographische Karte der Schweiz" oder "Dufourkarte" wurde der Kanton Luzern 1853 erstmals flächendeckend vermessen. Die 10 Karten-Blätter im Massstab 1:25'000 gegenüber der ersten Dufourkarte bereits nachgeführt - erschienen 1864-1867 als "Topographische Karte des Kantons Luzern".
