GG25: Digital municipal boundaries of Switzerland
The dataset of the digitized municipal boundaries (GG25) contains the administrative boundaries (national, canton, district and municipal) in a vector format. The perimeter includes Switzerland, the Principality of Liechtenstein as well as the exclaves in neighboring countries. Besides political municipalities, areas such as the State Forest of Galm, lakes and other common areas larger than 5km2 are also designated as independent surfaces. The data were originally based on the Swiss National Map 1:25 000 but have since been revised and updated with data from the Federal Directorate of Cadastral Surveying. The data set includes about 2900 municipalities.
