Das digitale Höhenmodell DHM25 ist ein Datensatz, welcher die dreidimensionale Form der Erdoberfläche beschreibt. Er wurde aus der Höheninformation der Landeskarte 1:25'000 und 1:50'000 -nur für der erweiterte Perimeter- abgeleitet. Das Matrixmodell ist eine Höhenmatrix mit einer Maschenweite von 25 m. Das Matrixmodell wird durch Interpolation aus dem Basismodell abgeleitet. Die Anzahl Höhenwerte pro Flächeneinheit ist konstant (1'600 Höhenwerte pro km2) . Es wird nur der Höhenwert z der einzelnen Punkte abgespeichert, da deren Koordinaten x,y implizit in der Anordnung der Matrix enthalten sind. Die Höhenwerte beziehen sich auf die Eckpunkte der Matrixzellen und geben demnach nicht deren mittlere Höhe wieder. Seen werden mit der Seeoberfläche dargestellt. Das Matrixmodell enthält keine zusätzlichen Angaben über die Nutzungsart. Das DHM25 gibt die Form der rohen Erdoberfläche ohne Bewuchs und Bebauung wieder.

Le modèle numérique du terrain MNT25 est un jeu de données qui décrit la surface terrestre en trois dimensions. Il est conçu essentiellement à partir des informations d'altitude tirées de la Carte nationale 1:25'000 et 1:50'000 pour le périmètre élargi. Le moodèle matriciel de MNT25 est une matrice d'altitude avec une maille de 25 m. Il est obtenu par interpolation à partir du modèle de base. Le nombre de cotes par unité de surface est constant (1'600 altitudes par km2). Seule l'altitude z des points est enregistrée, les coordonnées x,y étant contenues implicitement dans la disposition de la matrice. Les cotes se rapportent aux coins des cellules matricielles. Par conséquent, elles ne fournissent pas leur altitude moyenne. Les lacs sont représentés par l'altitude de leur surface. Le modèle matriciel ne contient, en outre, aucune indication sur le type d'utilisation du sol. Le MNT25 ne fournit que les formes brutes de la surface terrestre, sans végétation ni construction.

The digital height model DHM25 is a data set representing the three-dimensional form of the earth's surface. It was derived from the height information of the Swiss National Map 1:25'000 and 1:50'000 for the extended perimeter. The matrix model is a height matrix with a 25-m grid. It is derived from the basis model through interpolation. The number of height values per area is constant (1600 values per km2). Since the coordinates x and y are implicitly given by the matrix structure, only the height value z is stored with each point. The height values correspond to the corners of the matrix and therefore do not represent the mean height of the matrix cell. Lakes are represented by their surface. No additional information concerning the use of the terrain is stored in the matrix model. The DHM25 represents the topography of the earth's surface without vegetation or built up areas.

Bei reduzierten Ansprüchen an die Genauigkeit können auch ausgedünnte Matrizen aus der Originalmatrix extrahiert werden. Diese Extraktion ist eine Selektion, so dass auch in diesem Falle die Eckhöhen der Matrixzellen wiedergegeben werden und nicht deren mittlere Höhe. Derart ausgedünnte Matrizen werden mit DHM25/50, DHM25/100 oder DHM25/200 bezeichnet (andere Maschenweiten sinngemäss).

Des matrices aux mailles réduites peuvent être extraites de la matrice originale pour des utilisations où une haute précision altimétrique n'est pas nécessaire. Cette extraction s'effectue par sélection ce qui permet, dans ce cas également, de donner les altitudes des coins des cellules matricielles et non leur altitude moyenne. Des matrices avec des mailles réduites à 50 m (MNT25 50), 100 m (MNT25 100) ou 200 m (MNT25 200) peuvent être fournies.
