Sous cette dénomination sont regroupés:
- les bâtiments soumis à des mesures de protection, dans le cadre de la loi cantonale sur la protection des monuments et des sites (LPMNS) du 4 juin 1976,
- les bâtiments situés en zone protégée (périmètre protégé ou zone 4BP),
- les bâtiments construits avant 1945.
Cet inventaire n'est pas exhaustif; il s'agit d'un outil indicatif qui permet une préorientation rapide dans le cadre des procédures liées à l'énergie.
Certains bâtiments désignés peuvent ne pas être protégés (bâtiment sans intérêt au sein d'une zone protégée), et d'autres, non désignés le sont (bâtiment recensé, mais n'ayant pas encore fait l'objet d'une procédure de protection).
