Waldbrände können schwerwiegende Folgen für Mensch und Umwelt haben. Bei uns Menschen steht neben der direkten Gefährdung durch das Feuer auch die Zerstörung von Siedlungen und Verkehrswegen oder die Beeinträchtigung der Waldfunktionen, wie etwa dem Schutz vor Naturgefahren, im Zentrum.Auf der Alpennordseite häufen sich durch den Klimawandel Hitze- und Trockenperioden. Folglich werden auch Waldbrände häufiger. Der Kanton Luzern rüstet sich sowohl mit strategischen Dokumenten und Analysen wie auch mit praktischen Waldbrand-Kursen. Die Kurse werden seit 2022 erstmals in Zusammenarbeit von Feuerwehrinspektorat und kantonalen Forstdiensten zentralschweizerisch organisiert und durchgeführt.Waldbrandgefahren- und risikokarten sind ein wertvolles Instrument für präventive Massnahmen und taktische Entscheidungen. Sie sollen daher für die Öffentlichkeit und insbesondere die regionalen Feuerwehren einsehbar sein.
