Habitatbäume und Habitatbaumgruppen
Der Schutz von Habitatbäumen bzw. Habitatbaumgruppen ermöglicht den ungestörten Ablauf natürlicher Alterungs- und Zerfallsprozesse. Die vorhandenen und im Laufe der Zeit neu entstehenden Mikrohabitate an diesen Bäumen sind lebenswichtig insbesondere für Insekten, Vögel, Pilze, Flechten oder Fledermäuse, die auf alte und absterbende Bäume sowie auf Totholz angewiesen sind. Damit ist in bewirtschafteten Wäldern auch ausserhalb von Schutzgebieten ein Anteil an ökologisch wertvollem Alt- und Totholz gesichert.
Ein Habitatbaum (HB) zeichnet sich durch einen BHD > 60 cm sowie in der Regel einem oder mehreren Baummikrohabitaten aus. Insbesondere Bäume mit Hohlräumen sind von besonderer Bedeutung.
Eine Habitatbaumgruppe (HBG) zeichnet sich durch mehrere direkt benachbarte Individuen mit BHD > 60 cm aus, die in der Regel eine kompakte Fläche bilden. Mindestens die Hälfte der Bäume weist Baummikrohabitate auf.
