Das Amt für Raumentwicklung und Energie prüft die kommunalen Nutzungsplanungen sowie jene Quartierplanungen, die vom Regierungsrat zu genehmigen sind. Für die anstehende Revision der Ortsplanungen in den Gemeinden stellt das Amt für Raumentwicklung und Verkehr Arbeitsgrundlagen und Beratung in raumplanerischen Fragen zur Verfügung. Im Bereich Verkehr ist das Amt zuständig für die strategische Gesamtverkehrsplanung, die Fachstelle für Langsamverkehr und die Angebotsbestellung im Bereich des öffentlichen Verkehrs. Weiter werden Bau- und Betriebsbewilligungen für Kleinseilbahnen und Skilifte ausgestellt.
Die Energie ist ein wichtiger Aspekt bei der Realisierung eines Bau- oder Erneuerungsvorhabens. Die Energiefachstelle gibt Auskunft zu den gesetzlichen Vorschriften, berät in Fachfragen oder stellt Informationsmaterial zur Verfügung.
