Linear nitrogen oxide emissions NOx from road traffic per km in the Upper Rhine region (2021)
Produced as part of the Interreg Upper Rhine Atmo-Rhena PLUS project, this map shows nitrogen oxide emissions from road traffic per km in the Upper Rhine region in 2021.
Limiting air pollutant emissions is the most important lever for reducing pollutant concentrations in the atmosphere. The cross-border emissions inventory, on which this map is based, makes it possible to determine the contributions of different sectors of activity and energy sources to emissions of various air pollutants and thus to identify actions to reduce pollutant concentrations in the atmosphere. Air pollutants are gaseous compounds or particles that have a negative impact on air quality and harm human health and the environment. Their negative effects are not limited to the area close to the emission sources, but can spread in the atmosphere over hundreds of kilometers, and sometimes even globally.
The static map in PDF format is available at the road network scale. The data is accessible in open data format only at the EPCI, Kreis, and Canton scales.
