Welten&Sutter atlas
From 1967 to 1979, Switzerland’s ferns and flowering plants were mapped as part of the work on a distribution atlas.For that purpose, the country was divided into 593 different zones, whereby distribution was determined based on topographical considerations. 350 valley, 215 mountain and 28 water zones were defined. The natural forest boundary served in most cases as the boundary between valley and mountain zones.
